Alton was the eldest of the three boys in a family of eight.
He attended the Riverhead Central School District and was well-liked by his peers. The impression that was formed of Alton when you first met him remained unchanged to the end of his life.
Alton loved "Hip Hop" and all types of music. Whenever there was a gathering, he would always entertain his loved ones with a show of any song that was being played. You'd be having a conversation with "Al" and he would just start singing, go back to talking and then start singing again. When you were around "Al," he always made you and everyone laugh.
He was a kind-hearted, loving young man and had a special relationship with his brother, Deyshawn. These two were very close brothers in their childhood and adulthood. If you saw one of them the other was not far behind-they were always together. Even if "Al" was having a bad day, he would always make sure that he and his family felt good by telling his jokes and sharing his "love energy" freely. When you knew "Al" was coming over, you knew you would enjoy yourself with his "silly ways!"
Alton was a hard worker and never shied away from anything that would improve his life. He worked at Stony Brook University Medical Center in the Housekeeping Department and took great pride in being a part of an organization that helped people when they needed it. He was very well liked by his peers and supervisors and obtained the nickname No Doubt. That was his immediate response when someone asked if he would be able to help or take care of something that was not part of his normal duties. He was always quick to lend a helping hand.
Second to his family, Alton's passion was in his ability to communicate through his art. He was a talented man who loved to express himself through his drawings. He enjoyed working with clay as well, but it was when he was drawing that he was lost in the array of characters he conceived and worlds they lived in. He would sometimes sit for hours listening to his headphones and disappear into his drawings. The only thing that brought him more joy than actually creating his art was sharing his art.
Alton, or “Little Al” as he was lovingly known by his family, was a bright light that shined his love on everyone who was blessed to come into contact with him.
